The Lifeguard Examination

Registration

The professional lifeguard exam is only for lifeguards in the Municipality of Copenhagen, and you must be 18 years of age to be considered.

For those of you who are already a temporary lifeguard in the Municipality of Copenhagen:

Register for the training course via Lifeguard Training for Temporary Workers in SvømKBH.  When you are ready for the test, you can register via Occupational Lifeguard Tests for Temporary Workers. You will receive the code from your facility or from the Citywide Unit.

For those of you interested in becoming a lifeguard in the Municipality of Copenhagen:

The test is only for lifeguards in the Municipality of Copenhagen, and you will be enrolled in your employment process. If you want to work as a lifeguard at our facility, you can find out about the job opportunities.

Preparing for the exam

We recommend that you have participated in a first aid course with modules in general first aid at the Danish First Aid Council (Danish Red Cross, Falck, Danish People's Aid, the Danish Emergency Management Association).

For the test, you must show that you can perform CPR on two out of three age groups: 0-1 year, 1-18 years and over 18 years. We refer to the latest guidelines from the Danish First Aid Council .

The test will be held in normal work clothes. You may not use swimming goggles or other aids during the test.
