What are the requirements to become a coastal lifeguard?
To become a coastal lifeguard in the Copenhagen Municipality Coastal Lifeguard Service, you must...
- Be over 18 years old
- Make yourself understood in Danish
- Submit an application
- Pass the pool test
- Participate in all training modules with satisfactory effort
Please note: Aspirants with a driving license will be preferred
How many shifts should I take/can I count on?
As a new coastal lifeguard in the service, you are guaranteed a minimum of 12 shifts (working days). It is expected that you will bid on a minimum of 24 shifts and will continuously bid on more throughout the season.
What is emphasized in new aspirants?
We are interested in the individual aspirant's motivation to become a coastal lifeguard and the aspirant's ability to teach relevant skills satisfactorily. It is important that you are a good colleague, team player and not least a good host. Furthermore, the aspirant's ability to take responsibility and communicate clearly is highly valued.
How do I prepare as an aspirant for training and exams?
We recommend that potential aspirants train for the pool tests well in advance - preferably together with other aspirants or current coastal lifeguards.
If your application is accepted and you are accepted as an aspirant, you will have access to training times for aspirants and current coastal lifeguards.
If you have experience with open water swimming or first aid, it is an advantage but not a requirement before the start of the training.
