Supervision certificate (Opsynsbevis)

Activities in the swimming pools are the association's own responsibility and must be carried out under the supervision of a person with a valid supervision/lifeguard certificate.

he associations themselves have full responsibility for the safety of their members. This means that there must be at least one lifeguard qualified to supervise the pool area with knowledge of local conditions and a valid certificate. The certificate must be brought to the pool area.

Your responsibilities as a lifeguard qualified supervisor

As the association's lifeguard-qualified supervisor, you are responsible for the safety of your members. You are therefore obliged to inform yourself here.

How to achieve the competence as "supervision"

Associations have the following options to obtain the competence as "supervision":

  1. Review the course "Swimming pool supervision for clubs and associations". The Municipality of Copenhagen offers local courses at the swimming pools at the start of the season and continuously at: svoemkbh.plan2learn.dk
  2. Have a valid lifeguard certificate and get informed here

Purpose and content of the supervision course

The purpose is to provide coaches and managers with the necessary background to be able to meet the requirements set by the Municipality of Copenhagen for the clubs' use of public swimming facilities. The course includes:

  • All safety regulations
  • Competence issues
  • Requirements and regulations
  • Hygiene water chemistry
  • Swimming pool rescue and resuscitation equipment
  • Emergency
  • Life-saving first aid
  • Pool test (remember swimwear)

The course also aims to point out the need for actual first aid training.

Practical information and registration

  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Time: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Number: Max. 12 participants
  • Price: DKK 275 per participant. The course fee is deposited into account no. 0216 account no. 4069191444 marked "Swimming pool supervision". 
  • Registration: svoemkbh.plan2learn.dk . The course is called "Swimming pool supervision for clubs and associations".

Ongoing course offerings – “Course in swimming pool supervision”

If there are enough people registered, a course will be held on the last Thursday of the following months: September, October, November, January, February and March. In this course, the "local knowledge" is replaced with a more all-round technical knowledge. This course must be followed by a short local review of the emergency plan and the location of rescue and resuscitation equipment.
