Requirements for baby clothing
Disposable swim diaper and neoprene swim trunks
Babies must wear a disposable swim diaper and tight-fitting neoprene swim trunks. The neoprene swim trunks must:
- closes tightly around thighs and waist
- cover the entire disposable diaper
The requirement applies until the child is 4 years old or is safely clean.
Where can the swimwear be purchased?
We do not sell neoprene swimming trunks or swim diapers in the swimming pools. Approved swimwear can be purchased online – search for neoprene swimming trunks, for example.
If you are in doubt about the swimwear, please feel free to ask the staff.
Access requires proper swimwear
Inadequate baby clothing can lead to downtime. Therefore, staff may refuse access to the pool if the child is not wearing the correct swimwear.
Spisning og amning
Eating and breastfeeding
You are welcome to breastfeed or give your child a bottle in the pool. The bottle must be made of plastic.
In addition, the other rules regarding hygiene and safety apply.
Age and weight
The Municipality of Copenhagen recommends that babies are at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least 5 kg before using the baby pool.
Why 8 weeks and 5 kg?
After 8 weeks, the child has experienced different stimuli, and the parents have had time to get to know the child's temperament, reactions and signals.
The minimum weight of 5 kg is recommended because the water temperature of 34° is still lower than body temperature. The baby will therefore gradually cool down while in the pool.
